After School Stitch Club

Sewing is a great creative skill to learn. It combines practical life skills with an opportunity to express your artistic side. It's also fun and relaxing - and great for your wellbeing. If you or someone you know would like to learn to sew, why not come along to my new after school stitch club?

The club runs from my sewing studio in Sunningdale Road, Chelmsford on Mondays and Wednesdays. We will complete a variety of projects using both hand sewing and machine skills and there is lots of opportunity for your own design input (although if you prefer to follow a pattern that is fine too). You will work at your own pace, and classes are limited to 5 so there will be lots of hands on tuition at every stage.

Classes are from 4.15pm for an hour and a half and cost £12 per person per session. All materials and equipment will be included except when we are making something to wear (when it's much nicer to chose your own fabrics!).

FAQs

What age group is the class for?

The youngest child I have taught to date was 7 and she managed really well, including use of the sewing machine (although she did learn alongside her mum). I would generally expect this class to be of interest for those aged between around 9 and 15. It's really about the individual child and their ability - and you will know your child best. I am happy to answer any questions you might have.

How much are the sessions?

Each 90 minute session costs £12 per person and includes all materials and equipment (unless we are making something to wear - as I think it's much nicer to chose your own fabric then!)

How do I book?

You will need to book by emailing me at sewjobaker@gmail.com. From now until February half term, classes will be pay as you go (to see if you like them). After half term, I will move to a half termly block booking approach.
