Exciting New Year
I was really happy to be back in my studio this week. So great to see regular faces and some newcomers all with lots of creativity and new skills to learn.
Whether you want to start at the very beginning, develop existing skills or are just along to see what I've been making - I hope to have something of interest for everyone in my blogs this year.
'Bring Your Own Project' classes have been really popular, so I've added some more course blocks for you to book. This class is aimed at those who have recently started making their own clothes and wish to develop their skills. You bring along your own project and I will help and advise. The class is limited to 4 participants so that you get plenty of hands on tuition. I just love seeing the projects my students bring and also the inspiration they get from other members of the group. It's a lovely 'sewciable' session.
January (Friday 10am-12) is sold out, February has one space (Weds evenings 6-8pm) and March (Thurs 10am-12) and April (Weds 6-8pm) are now live on the website for booking:
My After School classes start again this week. The younger group are going to be getting to grips with their sewing machines and also learning some embroidery skills. I hope they will enjoy creating a hoop artwork in their own style. The older group will be learning lace insertion and pin tucks - and I can't wait to see what they create once they have the skills in hand. Some of these girls have been with me for a few year now and they are just so talented. Both groups are currently full - but if you are interested, please do get in touch to put your name down as spaces do become available.
After a fab session teaching at Alexandra Waylett's studio in North Essex back in November (we made dunagree dresses) I will be back in April and May 2023 to teach some more dressmaking workshops - do check out Alex's beautiful website.
For those of you who have enjoyed my Sewing Retreat Days - I will be hosting again in the Summer! I've tried my best to keep my fees low - but as venues are all increasing their prices in the current climate, the price for the retreat is likely to be higher than before. Do let me know if you are still keen? Watch this space for more details.
If you live in Chelmsford, you may be interested to learn that a friend of mine has started a monthly craft meet up called The Crafty Collective in The Black Bull on Roxwell Road. It's on the first Saturday of each month 1.30-3.30pm. Email jolambert@yahoo.co.uk for more details.
I'm off to the Kaffe Fassett exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum on Saturday 14th January - super excited to see his use of colour - will post some pics to share it with you. The exhibition is on until 12th March 2023 if you are interested.
Have a fab week! Happy Sewing
Jo xx
